Mafia · 5–14 players
How to play Mafia
Night brings a hidden attack. Day brings accusations. PartyBox handles secret roles and night actions, so your group can concentrate on finding the Mafia.
How to play
- Privately reveal your role. At night, Mafia target a player; optional Doctor and Sheriff roles protect or investigate.
- Discuss the dawn result, then living players vote privately to eliminate a suspect.
- Town wins by eliminating every Mafia member. Mafia wins by reaching parity with the town.
Eliminated players can watch, but should keep what they know to themselves.
Before you start
Gather 5–14 players with a way to talk, either together or on a call. Each person keeps their role and night actions private on their own device.
Estimated time for six players with default settings: About 20 min. Discussion and host settings can change this.

Voice and conversation
Talk together in person or on a voice call for the daytime discussion.
Example round
The Mafia target Alex at night. If the Doctor is enabled and protects Alex, that attack does not eliminate Alex. At dawn, living players compare suspicions and privately vote for one suspect.
A useful tip
Ask what changed between nights; keep guesses separate from facts announced by the game.
Mafia party game roles: who knows what?
Town players work out who to trust through discussion and voting. Mafia members know their side and choose a night target. With the optional roles enabled, the Doctor protects a player and the Sheriff investigates a suspect.
Keep those roles private. A daytime accusation is a claim to discuss, not proof of someone’s role. PartyBox handles the night actions and votes while your group supplies the conversation, in person or on a call.
